I love my shop - but in less than two months, I've outgrown it! With some very exciting events scheduled through July, I needed more room to bring the talent I want into Old Town! So I rented the little house next door. Now The Little Shop Of Arts And Antiques is ready for anything! The new space will include a Cafe that sells bottled water, canned drinks and snacks on the front glassed porch. All the windows can be opened on a lovely day and you can inhale the fresh air and hear the sounds of the small town traffic as it passes by! The large main room is my events room! Book signings, writing classes, art openings and coming in July, a mini writer's conference. The two back rooms will be set up as meeting rooms, with all the antique/vintage pieces for sale. Rooms will be available for rent at reasonable rates for small events. Space is limited, so book early.

That said - the garden shop at my original spot will be open for business the end of March.

So many wonderful things - I am doing a pre-opening sale. Look at some of the treasures below and if you are interested let me know! I love to wheel and deal and make shopping fun and easy! I also love selling to the trade and understand your needs.

Here are some sneak peeks at the new space at 96 Main Street and items/prices. The official opening of 96 Main St. NW is March 26th, but I am ready to sell now.

Remember 94 Main Street is open with great events and lovely treasures. This Saturday the shop opens at 9AM to join in with the neighborhood yard sale down by City Hall. Lilburn artist Peggy Sullens will be exhibiting her work and plen air painting in front of the shop!

Meet Jesse - A Young Boy Who Loves Cats And Loves To Write!

A Boy, His Cat, And A Love Of Reading, And Writing, About Cats!

Jesse and Mia. An inspiring writer and his muse.

Jesse Newton is nine years old and in the fourth grade. He lives in Lilburn.I met him at the shop when his grandmother, Linda, brought him with her to see the dog portraits on display. Linda is active with the Woman's Club and is the secretary of the Lilburn Business Association. She is also a very proud grandmother, who looks way to young to have a grandson!

I loved talking to Jesse. He told me he loved cats and liked to write. I asked him to let me see one of his stories and that I'd like to put it on my blog. Nothing I like better than a kid who likes to write and takes time to do it!

This short story is about Mia, a cat Jesse got for Christmas, who lives with his Grandma Linda. Velvet is a black kitty, Jesse's uncle, Mike, bought about three weeks before Mia arrived. Both cats were from the ASPCA.

So those are the facts. The story is Jesse’s imagination.  He adores cats and reads both fact and fiction about cats. He likes to write about cats.

Jesse wrote this little story in long hand, his grandmother typed it and sent it to me.

I admire Jesse for wanting to write and using his imagination to make a story. At nine, this may be just the beginning of a writing career to come. It is wonderful his family encourages him and supports his love of stories. And, of course, you know, I love writing, and rescue dogs and cats are my favorite subjects.

Mia

Mia was an orphan-cat.  She had been into several homes and brought back several times.  She had many friends but within the month they were adopted.  Her life was sad, horrid, really.  All until…..

Mia was adopted on December 11, 2010.  Her sister, Velvet, was adopted three weeks before her. Mia, one day, was looking out of her window, thinking about the outside world.  She wanted to find her sister so one day she dashed out the door as her human was leaving.  She was walking along a cold, hard black path with two streaks of thunder along the middle when a monster began dashing toward her.  THUMP! THUMP! “Whew! She thought, the monster narrowly missed her but hit a squirrel that was on the other side of the road.  She suddenly realized how hungry she was.  “Well,” she thought, “here’s dinner.”

Two days later, she located her sister’s scent.  She followed it to a nearby house.  An unfamiliar human picked her up.  She was fed and then she saw a cat as black as night. “Mia?” Velvet exclaimed. “Velvet?” Mia exclaimed.  After a long night of catching up, the unfamiliar human brought Mia back home.

In the weeks since, Mia has been brought to see Velvet every Friday.

Winning Ticket Drawn For Becky Kidd Custom Pet Portrait!

This evening the winning raffle ticket was drawn for a custom pet portrait by Becky Kidd. Becky so generously offered her talent to help raise money for Animal Action Rescue. Tickets were purchased from AAR's web site and also at the shop. The shop raised $100 for AAR, in addition to the tickets purchased on their web site. All names were tossed in the jar and the winner is..................
